Hilary Nims, DVM
Dr. Hilary Nims was born, raised and schooled in Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate, receiving a bachelor of science degree with honors in biopsychology and cognitive science in 2002. She attended Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2008. She practiced in small animal medicine for 8 years, primarily in New York City, before transitioning to work in industry as a Professional Services Veterinarian. Responsibilities of the latter included collaboration with universities such as Tufts, Cornell and Michigan State, and providing RACE approved CE lectures to general practitioners throughout the country on a variety of topics including canine hyperadrenocorticism, canine hypoadrenocorticism, feline hyperthyroidism, topical dermatology therapy and anesthesia and fluid therapy.
Dr. Nims is based in Portland, ME which is the favorite place she’s called home after living in five states and as many cities. When not working, she enjoys quality time with her partner and black cat Raven. Dr. Nims couldn’t be happier to join the VAYD team~she considers it an honor to serve the community and their pets in an home environment, working together to minimize stress and maximize health.

Client Liaison
Mel Bonney
Melissa is a graduate of Windham High school and started working in the Veterinary field in 1999. She has enjoyed many roles throughout the years. Veterinary Assistant, surgical assistant, customer support, and a kennel/boarding assistant. She is excited to work at VAYD as a client liaison.

Mel has known from a very early age that she wanted to work with animals. She has had many pets throughout her life. She also has a soft spot for disabled pets and has had many in her life. She also loves pocket pets, reptiles, and keeps fresh and saltwater fish tanks.

She lives with her husband, daughter, and their two cats, Daniel Tiger and Meeko. When she is not working she loves camping with her family, doing arts and crafts with her daughter, hiking and canoeing.

Deanna Marriott, LVT
Deanna graduated from Great Bay Community College in 2020 with an Associates Degree in Animal Science. She grew up knowing she wanted to work with animals and has made that dream a reality. She is excited to embark on the new journey of mobile veterinary medicine after working at a brick and mortar hospital. Being welcomed into clients homes and becoming a part of their lives is a great responsibility to her.
She lives in the cozy town of Waterboro Maine with her fiancé Jared and their two dogs, Moxie and Winston. Deanna enjoys reading, being outside, and trying different restaurants with her family.
